Are You Focused on the Right Things?

For the most part, I feel inventors floundered around a great deal trying to launch their product. But all an inventor needs to do to succeed is convince one person with the right connections that they have a great idea.  

I’ve written many posts about how to find the right connections, by going to web sites of trade magazines and seeing who the magazine feels are in the news, , by getting attendee lists of trade show attendees and by actually attending industry trade shows and or industry conferences. Some industries will eve have local groups which will have meetings you can obtain.

But you can’t expect to be taking seriously by an industry insider without a utility patent.  People in the industry are well aware of the numerous sites with $199 provisional patent fees, and other low cost provisional patent sites. The industry knows those provisional patents are often not written up to patent office standards, and also that a provisional patent only offers a priority date and no real protection.  A utility patent is all that matters.

The knock against utility patents is that they are expensive and that they take a long to obtain.  I have put together expedited patent packages (utilizing USPTO programs)  to help inventors potentially get their patents in less than a year for reasonable fees.

For micro entity inventors  (income currently less than rough $220,000 and and all inventors and co-inventors having less than four design or utility patent applications)

Inventors or co-inventors older than 65                $ 2,150.00

Inventors younger than 65                                          $ 3,000.00

For small entity inventors (inventors with less than 500 employees)

Inventors or co-inventors over 65                            $ 2,800.00

Inventors younger than 65                                          $ 4,500.00

Note micro-entity and small entity are USPTO classifications and they have different USPTO fee schedules.
